Logan Is a Transfer Destination
Wayne County's official instructions say adult women sentenced to IDOC are transported to Logan Correctional Center. The local sheriff records the end of Wayne County custody. The sentence and commitment appear in the court record. Once IDOC accepts the person, the state correctional record becomes the source for institution, sentence, projected date, prison release, supervision, and discharge.
This sequence prevents a common error. A person who leaves Wayne County Jail for Logan has not been released into the community. The transfer ends one agency's custody and begins another's. A later IDOC profile may name Logan, another institution, parole, MSR, or a different status, depending on what occurred after intake.

The source documents the county-to-state handoff, not a facility-specific promise about permanent placement or eventual release practice.
Logan Location Can Change
Logan is the first named IDOC destination in Wayne County's instructions, but later institutional transfers can occur. A court docket or sheriff record may continue to say Logan because that was the original handoff. The live IDOC profile should be checked before calling a prison or describing where the person remains housed.
Use identity details across the handoff. The Wayne case number links the sentence to the local court. An IDOC number links later state records to the correct individual. Full name and birthdate help, but neither is as precise as the assigned state number. Preserve any difference in names, dates, or institutions until IDOC or the court explains it.

A timeline should label each point as Wayne release, IDOC admission, institutional transfer, projected prison exit, actual release, supervision, or discharge. The labels matter more than forcing every event under the single word “release.”

Read Logan Release Status Carefully
A profile's Projected Parole Date is a calculated, forward-looking field. It is not proof that Logan released the person. Actual release information and current status carry more weight for a completed prison exit. Even then, an outside-prison status can mean the person entered parole or mandatory supervised release and remains under IDOC authority.

IDOC's no-result explanation is especially important for older Logan cases. A person may be absent because the sentence and parole were discharged. That absence does not erase the prior admission or supply a completion date. Return to IDOC's records office and the sentencing court.
Logan Release Date Calculations
IDOC records personnel calculate determinate sentences to projected and mandatory release dates, account for credit and lost time, establish the applicable supervision term before release, verify calculations, and record discharge. Offense date, statutory provision, concurrent or consecutive sentences, presentence custody credit, discipline, court corrections, recommitment, absence, and detainers can all affect the path.
Illinois does not impose one universal 85 percent formula. Under 730 ILCS 5/3-6-3, first-degree murder and other identified categories can receive no sentence credit. Some enumerated serious offenses are limited to 4.5 days per month, often summarized as an 85 percent rule. Listed drug offenses and other categories can follow different limits, while eligible sentences outside exclusions may receive a day-for-day baseline. The exact offense and current statute control.
A projected date can therefore move. Additional or program credit depends on eligibility, while credit can be revoked or restored under applicable rules. A detainer or required release planning can also affect what happens after prison. The public profile should be paired with the judgment and, when needed, IDOC's own calculation record.
Do not send every Logan release inquiry to the Prisoner Review Board. People sentenced under the modern determinate regime generally serve the sentence less applicable credit and then enter MSR. PRB has defined roles in conditions, eligible old-law or youthful parole cases, and revocation proceedings. A published hearing schedule is not evidence that a specific person will leave Logan.
Note: A PRB decision may precede physical release because detainers, conditions, planning, and institutional processing can remain unresolved.
Request Logan Discharge Records
An IDOC records request is the durable fallback for a former Logan record that no longer appears online. Ask for public fields rather than a complete master file. IDOC identifies name, IDOC number, parent institution, current location or status, vital statistics, admission and release dates, and sentencing information as publicly disclosable for current or former individuals. Other material may remain confidential.

Identify the person by IDOC number and request the precise admission, institutional history, actual release, outside-prison status, and discharge fields needed. If an online profile conflicts with the response, ask IDOC to explain the difference rather than merging the dates.

The research established no Logan-specific release time, exit door, transportation plan, gate funds, weekend schedule, or property-return practice. If Logan is no longer listed, search the current IDOC record before assuming release. The person may have moved within IDOC. If the status shows parole or MSR, prison confinement ended but supervision continues. Verify Logan Release Proof
Good evidence answers a defined question. The Wayne sheriff transfer event proves when county custody ended. The court judgment proves why IDOC custody began. The IDOC profile or records response documents the state institution, actual prison exit, supervision status, and discharge. A PRB result matters only if that case falls within the Board's decision process.
Capture the source agency and access date with each fact. Use the IDOC number, case number, full name, and birthdate to avoid a namesake. If one source shows Logan while a newer profile shows another prison, retain both as dated locations. If projected and actual release dates differ, label them rather than calling either wrong without an agency explanation.
The final statement should stay within the record's scope. “IDOC reports release from prison into MSR” is different from “the sentence was discharged.” Likewise, “Wayne County transferred the person to Logan” does not mean Logan released the person. A documented community status, paired with checks for transfers or detainers, supports the broader conclusion.
